PLANTING:
Use some method to break up the soil (plow, disk, drag, etc.) to expose the dirt.  If the grass/brush is tall or heavy, clear it away first.  For best results, do a soil test for pH.  Use a grain drill or no-till drill after preparing a good seed bed.  A hand seeder works good for small plots.  Drag, roll or culti-pack the seedbed to cover the seed with 1/4-1/2" of soil max.
RECOMMENDED DATES:
Plant May 15-June 30 (upper midwest dates) or when soil temp is 55-70 degrees
LOCATION:
Most food plots require at least 50% sunlight.  Soil test for nutrient and pH needs.  Requires adequate moisture, but no swampy areas.
FERTILIZER:
Fertilize in the spring and fall with 17-17-17 or similar, at 200 lbs per acre at planting.
